We have some exciting news! Chase and I are expecting our 2nd little one on November 7, 2012. I am 12 weeks along today so I decided it was time to start documenting the pregnancy of baby #2. This is a long post and is mostly for my benefit so I can remember these little things of pregnancy but feel free to read if you'd like.
Finding Out and Telling the Hubby
I took a pregnancy test on Friday, February 24 right before bed and I was shocked to see a positive sign because technically I would only be a little over 3 weeks along so I figured it would be too early to tell. I decided to wait until the morning to take another one to double check. Chase was going to go work on our car at his dad's in the morning so I waited for him to leave before I took another test. Sure enough it was positive again! I was very excited! I had decided previously that the next time I was pregnant, I would wait a while to tell Chase and then even longer to tell our family and friends. But, I'm really bad at keeping in good news so I grabbed Haidyn and went into town to get a "Big Sister" shirt. They had a whole section at Carter's which was convenient so we grabbed it and I threw it on her in the car. I was expecting Chase to be home when we got there. Instead, I got a call from him that the car was taking longer than he thought and that he was going to go out to lunch with his dad. Well I was annoyed because I am very impatient. Haha. I told him that he needed to hurry home because I had to be somewhere. He finally got home and I was very smooth because I wanted to film his reaction. I buttoned up Haidyn's Levi jacket and turned up some music. Haidyn can't help but dance whenever music comes on so I pretended like I was filming her dance moves while Chase came up the stairs. I then asked Chase to take off her jacket because it looked like she was getting hot. He took it off and saw the shirt. It only took him 3 seconds to realize what it meant and he was way excited. Haidyn didn't understand what it meant exactly but she was excited because we were.
Telling the Families
Our original plan was to wait until Easter to tell our families and I would have been 10 weeks along at the time. But like I said above, I am not very good at holding in good news and neither is Chase. :) It was also very hard to hide because I was definitely showing and running to the restroom to throw up every half hour wasn't helping either. So we decided to tell them at 8 weeks along. We went over to Chase's parents on a Sunday and had Haidyn wear the shirt with the jacket buttoned up again. I video taped it and I really want to get it to work on here because after we asked Chase's parents to take the jacket off, it took them about 5 minutes and some more hinting before they got it. It was hilarious! They were excited though after they figured it out! :) We went to my families house next and my youngest sister Kaitlyn decided to take her jacked off because it was really hot. She said "oh cute shirt" but didn't get it. We were having a party for my sister Amber's birthday so my grandma's were all there. Everyone looked over at the shirt when she said that and was like "no way!" My sisters started jumping around excited and poor Kaitlyn had no idea what was going on. We finally explained what the shirt meant and she started jumping around too. It was a lot of fun. I'm really going to try and get those videos to load because it was hilarious.
The Weirdness of Pregnancy and Eating
I don't know if it is just me but my body weirds out each time I'm pregnant in a different way! Everything seems to have switched when it comes to eating... Foods that I ate all the time before now make me want to puke, and foods that I would never eat before sound really good to me now. For example: Chicken- Oh my goodness... I don't think I've ever realized how much food is made with chicken until I can not even think of the word without getting nauseous. EVERYTHING has chicken...tacos, enchiladas, chik-fil-a (which was my favorite go-to fast food), hawaiian haystacks (which was my favorite go-to for a quick dinner fix), maddox drive-up, its like a never ending world of chicken... why oh why does it make me so sick to even look at now, let alone taste?? I do not know.. but it is very inconvenient to say the least!
Another opposite example: Milk and Fruit Smoothies- I grew up in a household where we had cold cereal with milk pretty much every morning for breakfast and I still do. That was pretty much the most milk I would like to have throughout the day. Since this pregnancy though, I can poor glassfuls of milk, drink them, and still want more! It is so satisfying. I never enjoyed the taste very much before but I LOVE it now. As for the fruit smoothies, ya I would like them once in a while but if I had the choice, I was definitely going for something chocolate. Well not now.. fruit smoothies and fruit ice cream just sounds better to me. Chocolate not so much. I'm fine with the milk and fruit weirdness but I really hope I can go back to eating chicken soon because there is only so much I can make with beef and pork.
Sickness and Dr. Haidyn
I really envy those women that do not get sick during their pregnancy at all! Why can't we all be equal in that sense? Well I'm one of the majority, I believe, of women that unfortunately gets really sick for the first part of pregnancy. I am grateful that it doesn't last throughout the entire thing. Haidyn has been a really good Dr. to me though. She has found this new liking for Dr.'s and she has this little Dr. kit. So when I'm laying on the couch resting for a minute, she will come up to me and ask "Is baby belly sick today?" I will say "yes, baby belly is sick" she will then say "I kiss it better" and will kiss my stomach. Then she takes her Dr. stuff and listens to my heart, looks in my ears, etc. After she has completed the exam, she says "baby belly all better". Haha. I wish it was that easy! She is so fun though :) Chase has also been THE BEST husband these past few months. I am so grateful for him. He has helped me with the house and watching Haidyn and he is so supportive. I am very blessed to have my little family to support me.
